Ways to customize your ring band

People have always chosen the best metals for their wedding or engagement ring bands. The most popular metal option for wedding bands are yellow gold, white gold, rose gold, platinum and silver. Platinum is the most expensive among these metals. White gold is a popular choice for people who prefer cool-toned metal but are within a budget. Rose gold is the new trendy alternative. The most economical option is silver. Palladium is a new guest in the jewellery world and looks very similar to platinum but cheaper.

Most people want ring bands that are light yet durable. Another major factor is the scratch-free property of metals. We spend hundreds of bucks on a ring so we would never want scratches or dents. Platinum and silver almost weigh the same. Gold is slightly lighter than the two. Gold is highly scratch-proof, while silver is the least. Tungsten has the best resistant towards scratches though it is a less common choice of metal for wedding or engagement rings since it's heavy.

Ring bands come in different styles. A straight ring band is a classic choice. Men usually stick to a straight ring band but customize the width. Women have opted for the straight ring band but extended their niche to more exquisite and entrancing designs such as tapered, reverse tapered, split, bypass and criss-cross.

Embellishments are another interesting add-on to ring bands. Simple ornamentation on the circle is a surprise diamond which accents the central diamond. Filigree adds a Victorian or Edwardian touch. An openwork loop provides a broad scope to apply elaborate patterns. Milgrain and rope designs add a dash of trinket to a classic band but keep it simple.

Last but not least, engravings are a popular choice for couples. People like to engrave the names of their partners or some beautiful lines from a poem/song in the rings. You can do engravings anytime later.
