Are gold and platinum the only precious metal?

Metals and non-metals are quite common in terms of chemistry. But in terms of regular use, there are some expensive pieces which are not even metal. So here we are today to see some of the precious metal guide. But before starting that, let us see what does the word “Precious” mean. “Precious” means expensive, valuable or costly. Thus it is common that there can be expensive metals and non-metals.

Top 5 most expensive metals are Rhodium, Platinum, Gold, Ruthenium and Iridium. Now you might be familiar with platinum and gold. But the other three are not that popular. We know Platinum and Gold because it is quite common as expensive jewellery. Platinum is one of the bases for man made diamond and lab-grown diamonds. Though they have the high value they somewhat might look like silver. For gold, there can be anything. It can be golden like usual gold, white gold like silver and platinum, lastly, it can be rose gold as well which is a bit like salmon pinkish. For the other three materials, Rhodium is the most expensive. They are quite used for giving a layer on top of the optical fibres. They are mainly a catalyst. Ruthenium is less known. Its because they are not that popular in terms of use. They are known for there hardness. Iridium has a very high melting point. And they are generally a by-product which comes from nickel mining. And if they are processed properly then they might be produced from a Platinum ore too. Now the Rhodium, Ruthenium and Iridium is a part of the platinum family.

New technologies can take out something that is really good from something we discard. In the case of metals, there is a nice way of recycling the product. This way environment is saved and also the metal that is so very precious stays with you.
